On February 3, 2025, Alpha Medical Centre experienced a ransomware attack carried out by a cybercriminal group known as RansomHub. The attackers claimed responsibility for the breach on their dark web portal, stating that they had obtained approximately 6 GB of sensitive data from Alpha Medical Centre's internal systems.

RansomHub had threatened to publish this data within 13-14 days if their demands are not met. The attackers have released sample screenshots of the stolen data as proof of their claims.

The compromised data potentially includes personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of Alpha Medical Centre's patients including patient names combined with one or more of the following details: addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, health insurance information, and medical appointment details.

Alpha Medical Centre discovered the breach promptly and immediately launched an investigation, engaging external cybersecurity experts to assess the scope and impact of the incident. Investigators determined that an unauthorized party gained access to Alpha Medical Centre's network and may have acquired patient data stored on the compromised systems.

Alpha Medical Centre's response

Following the discovery of the ransomware attack, Alpha Medical Centre took immediate action by initiating a thorough investigation with external cybersecurity professionals. The organization has notified potentially affected individuals whose contact information was available, providing them with detailed information about the breach and guidance on protecting their personal data.

Alpha Medical Centre has published an official security notice on their website, outlining the details of the incident and recommended protective measures. The clinic advises individuals to carefully review their financial account statements and credit reports for any irregular activity over the next 12 to 24 months.

To further protect themselves, affected individuals are encouraged to consider placing a fraud alert or security freeze on their credit files. Instructions for placing these protective measures are included in the published security notice. Patients can also request a free annual credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—to check for any unauthorized activity.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the breach can contact Alpha Medical Centre directly by emailing hello@alphawellnessatl.com or by sending written correspondence to PO Box 4888, Alpharetta, GA 30022.
