If you worked for Stanford Health Care as an operating nurse, a peri-/post-operative nurse, or a catheterization laboratory/endoscopy/interventional radiology/procedure room nurse between March 4, 2018, and April 13, 2024, you may be eligible to claim a portion of a $10,000,000 award from a class action settlement.
Stanford Health Care has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit that alleges failures in providing timely meal periods, paying meal period premiums, issuing accurate wage statements, and paying all wages upon termination.
Who are the class members?
The class members eligible for this settlement include individuals who were employed by Stanford Health Care in California as:
- Operating nurses
- Peri-operative and/or post-operative nurses
- Catheterization laboratory/endoscopy/interventional radiology/procedure room nurses
These positions must have been held on an hourly basis during the period from March 4, 2018, to April 13, 2024.
How much can class members get?
The settlement provides a distribution of the Net Settlement Amount among class members based on the number of work weeks during the class period.
The formula used is: Individual Settlement Payment = (Individual Work Weeks ÷ Total Class Work Weeks) × Net Settlement Amount.
For example, if the Net Settlement Amount is $6,000,000 and there are 100,000 total work weeks, a class member with 100 work weeks would receive $6,000.
The actual amount each class member receives may vary, and it is subject to deductions for applicable taxes and withholdings. Twenty percent of the settlement payment is subject to payroll deductions, while the remaining eighty percent is not.
No action needed to receive compensation
Class members do not need to take any action to receive their settlement payment. It is important to ensure that the Settlement Administrator has your current mailing address to avoid any issues with receiving your payment.

When is the Veitch v. Stanford Health Care payout date?
The Court will hold a Final Approval Hearing on March 27, 2025. If the settlement is approved, payments will be distributed to class members approximately two months after the final approval order, assuming no appeals delay the process.
Why is there a class action settlement?
The lawsuit claims that Stanford Health Care failed to provide timely meal periods, pay meal period premiums, provide accurate wage statements, and pay all wages upon termination. The settlement was reached to avoid further litigation costs and risks.
