If you purchased certain Robitussin products marketed as "non-drowsy" between February 16, 2016, and January 21, 2025, you may qualify to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.
GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Holdings (US) LLC, now known as Haleon US Holdings LLC, has agreed to pay $4.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged deceptive marketing of Robitussin products as 'Non-Drowsy' when they contain dextromethorphan (DXM), which can cause drowsiness.
Who can submit a claim for a Robitussin payout?
You can submit a claim if:
- You purchased any flavor of Robitussin product that includes dextromethorphan and was marketed as 'non-drowsy.'
- The purchases were made in the United States between February 16, 2016 and January 21, 2025
- One claim per household is allowed without proof of purchase, but up to three claims can be filed per household with proof
How much is the Robitussin Non-drowsy settlement payout?
Pro rata cash payment: Preliminarily estimated at $1.50 - $4.75 per claim
Payment amount will be determined by the number of valid claims filed, and is preliminarily estimated at $1.50 - $4.75 per claim.
Is proof required to submit a cough syrup settlement claim?
No proof of purchase is required to submit a claim. However, claims without proof are limited to one claim per household.
Additional documentation is required to submit more than one household claim. Up to three household claims can be submitted if proof, such as purchase receipts, is included
How to claim a Robitussin Settlement payout
To claim a Robitussin payout, you must submit a completed claim form by the May 12, 2025 deadline. You can file a claim online or download and print a PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

$4.5 Million settlement fund
The settlement fund of $4,500,000 includes the following:
- Payments to approved claimants
- Settlement administration costs not to exceed $550,000
- Attorneys' fees and expenses of up to $1.5 million
- Service awards to the two class representatives of up to $2,000 each

When is the Robitussin Non-Drowsy Settlement payout date?
The court has scheduled the final approval hearing for June 30, 2025.
According to the settlement agreement, the administrator will begin payment distribution approximately 60 days after the court grants approval. Appeals may delay this process.
Why is there a class action settlement?
The lawsuit alleges that Haleon deceptively marketed certain Robitussin products as 'Non-Drowsy,' despite containing DXM, which can cause drowsiness. Haleon has denied these allegations, but agreed to settle to avoid further time consuming litigation, costs and risks.
