If you purchased a single-day Sierra-at-Tahoe ski lift ticket online for use on certain dates between December 2020 and February 2021, but were unable to use it because the resort’s parking lots reached capacity, you may be eligible to submit a claim for a full cash refund or a ski lift ticket voucher valued between $83 and $140 from a class action settlement.
Sierra-at-Tahoe, LLC has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that it unfairly advertised single-day ski lift tickets for specific dates online, without disclosing that parking restrictions could prevent ticket holders from using their tickets.
Who is eligible for a cash refund or voucher?
You are a class member if:
- You purchased a single-day Sierra-at-Tahoe ski lift ticket online for use on any of these dates:
- December 12, 14, 18, 19, or 29, 2020
- January 9, 30, or 31, 2021
- February 6, 13, or 20, 2021
- You were unable to use your ticket on the specified date because Sierra-at-Tahoe’s onsite parking lots were full.
- You did not use the ticket on another day.
- You did not receive a cash refund, lift ticket voucher, or resort credit for that ticket from Sierra-at-Tahoe.
- Class members that purchased multiple tickets for different class period dates qualify to submit for each ticket.
Are there any exclusions?
Yes, certain resort visitors do not qualify to participate in the settlement:
- Visitors who already received a full refund, a lift ticket voucher, or a resort credit for their ticket purchases.
- Visitors who used their ticket on another day.
How much is the settlement payout?
Claimants can select one of the following:
- Cash Refund: You can submit to receive cash refund equal to the amount paid for the ticket.
- Ticker Voucher: Class members that do not select a cash refund can file for a single-day ski lift ticket voucher with an estimated value between $83 and $140.
- Vouchers will be valid for three ski seasons, starting with the current season.

Why did this class action lawsuit and settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged that Sierra-at-Tahoe advertised specific-date single-day lift tickets online without disclosing that parking-capacity restrictions could prevent guests from using those tickets on certain dates. Sierra-at-Tahoe denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the cost involved with continuing litigation.
