St. Croix Regional Medical Center Medical Billing Settlement

If you requested healthcare billing records from St. Croix Regional Medical Center and were charged fees, you may be eligible to claim compensation from a class action settlement.

St. Croix Regional Medical Center has agreed to pay $225,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for allegedly charging fees in excess of those permitted by Wisconsin law when providing copies of healthcare billing records.

Who are the class members?

Class members include any patient or person authorized in writing by a patient to obtain the patient’s healthcare records who:

• Requested the patient’s healthcare records from St. Croix Regional Medical Center
• Directly or indirectly paid a request, basic, retrieval, certification, or other fee
• Made the request during in the last six-year period preceding the commencement of this action.

Class members are those who indirectly paid the disputed fees if the person or entity that requested the records and directly paid the disputed fees has not claimed entitlement to be reimbursed for the payment.

How much can class members get?

Class members who do not opt out and claim their compensation will be paid up to 1.5 times the amount of the disputed fees, based on the amount of the allegedly excessive fee paid by each Settlement Class Member.
