If you own or lease, or have previously owned or leased, certain Mazda vehicles, you may be eligible to claim benefits from a class action settlement.
Mazda Motor of America, Inc. has agreed to pay $15 million to settle a class action lawsuit concerning alleged defects in certain Denso-manufactured fuel pumps installed in their vehicles.
Who can get a payout?
You can submit a claim for a payout if:
- You own or lease, or have previously owned or leased, a Mazda vehicle equipped with a Denso fuel pump
- The vehicle was sold or leased in the United States or its territories
- You can verify the vehicle is included by using the VIN lookup tool available on the official settlement website

What are the settlement benefits?
The settlement provides several benefits, depending on the vehicle type:
- Customer Support Program: This program covers repairs for Additional Vehicles, which include certain models like the 2017-2019 MX-5 and 2018-2021 Mazda3. The coverage begins 30 days after the Final Effective Date.
- Offers coverage for repairs needed to correct defects in the fuel pumps for Additional Vehicles. This coverage lasts 15 years from the date of first use.
- Extended New Parts Warranty: This applies to Recalled Vehicles, such as the 2018 Mazda6 and 2019 CX-3. The warranty covers the replacement fuel pump kit for 15 years or up to 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
- Provides coverage for replacement fuel pump kits on Recalled Vehicles. This warranty extends for 15 years from the replacement date and up to 150,000 miles.
- Out-of-Pocket Claims reimbursements
What documents do I need before submitting a claim?
Claimants need to provide proof of out-of-pocket expenses incurred for repairs or replacements of the fuel pump that were not reimbursed.
This includes:
- Invoices, service records, or repair orders
- Proof of ownership
- Repair date and type
- Proof of payment and facility details
How to file a claim
To claim an award, you can file a claim online or download a paper claim form. Ensure your claim form includes all necessary documentation and is submitted by the deadline.

Payment Methods

$15 Million settlement fund
The settlement fund of $15,000,000 will cover:
- Attorneys' fees, costs, and expenses, not exceeding $15,000,000.
- Service awards for Class Representatives, up to $5,000 each.
- Remaining funds will be distributed to eligible class members.

When is the Mazda Fuel Pumps Settlement payout date?
The Court will hold a Fairness Hearing on January 17, 2025, to decide whether to approve the settlement. If approved, the settlement will proceed, and payments will be distributed after any appeals are resolved in favor of the settlement.
