If you received a Notice Letter from EdisonLearning, Inc. indicating that your personal information was compromised in a March 2023 cybersecurity incident, you may be eligible to claim up to $2,500 from a class action settlement.
EdisonLearning has agreed to pay $1,500,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged unauthorized access to its computer systems, which compromised names and Social Security Numbers.
Who can file a claim?
The Settlement Class includes all individuals residing in the United States who received a Notice Letter from EdisonLearning notifying them that their private information was compromised in the cybersecurity incident. To be part of the class, you must have received this notification.
- The incident occurred on or about March 17, 2023
- The compromised information includes names and Social Security Numbers
- 23,922 people were affected
How much are the payouts?
Class members can claim various benefits, which include:
- Credit Monitoring Services: One year of credit monitoring services, which includes real-time monitoring, dark web scanning, and identity theft insurance.
- Cash Payment A: Reimbursement up to $1,000 for out-of-pocket expenses such as bank fees, phone charges, and gasoline for travel.
- Cash Payment B: Reimbursement up to $2,500 for fraud-related expenses if the loss is traceable to the incident and occurred after March 17, 2023.
- Fixed Amount Payment: If no documented expenses, you can claim $50.
If the total claims exceed the settlement fund, payments will be reduced on a pro rata basis. For example, if the total claims amount to $2,000,000 but the settlement fund is $1,500,000, each claim would be reduced proportionally.
What documents are required?
Claimants need to provide documentation such as receipts to verify costs incurred. Self-prepared documents can support other documentation but are not sufficient alone.
- Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Requires receipts or similar documentation.
- Fraud-Related Expenses: Requires proof of loss and efforts to seek reimbursement.
