Ardent Health Services has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit due to a November 2023 cyberattack that allegedly resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive information, including Social Security Numbers.
Who can claim a payout?
You are considered a member of the "Settlement Class" if you received a Notice Letter from AHS informing you that your private information was involved in the data incident.
How much are the payouts?
- Identity Theft Protection and Credit Monitoring: All class members are eligible for one year of identity theft protection and credit monitoring, which includes up to $1 million in identity theft insurance. Those who submit a valid claim for reimbursable out-of-pocket expenses can receive two years of protection.
- Cash Payment: Class members whose Social Security Numbers were not accessed will receive $25, while those whose Social Security Numbers were accessed will receive $75.
- Reimbursable Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Class members can claim up to $1,000 for documented expenses if their Social Security Numbers were not accessed, and up to $5,000 if they were accessed. These expenses must be documented and incurred between November 23, 2023, and March 6, 2025.
- Examples of Reimbursable Expenses:
- Unreimbursed bank fees
- Long-distance phone charges (if charged by the minute)
- Cell phone charges (if charged by the minute)
- Data charges (if charged based on the amount of data used)
- Postage and notary fees
- Unreimbursed losses due to fraud or identity theft
- Other charges or losses reasonably related to the Data Incident
- Supporting documentation, like reciepts, must be provided
