In early February 2024, Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery discovered suspicious activity on their computer network. This prompted an immediate investigation with the help of computer forensic specialists.

The investigation revealed that between February 1 and February 3, 2024, an unauthorized actor accessed certain systems within the network. During this time, they were able to view or copy files containing sensitive information.

The breach affected a substantial number of individuals, although the exact number has not been disclosed. The compromised data includes a range of sensitive personal information, which varies by individual.

Information exposed:

  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial account information
  • Driver's license number
  • Passport number
  • Date of birth

Rebound Orthopedics began notifying affected individuals on April 15, 2024, after identifying the specific files and individuals involved.

Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery's Response

In response to the data breach, Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery took steps to secure their systems and mitigate any further risk. They conducted a comprehensive investigation and have since implemented additional security measures to enhance their cybersecurity posture.

To assist those affected, the company is offering complimentary access to credit monitoring services through IDX for either twelve or twenty-four months. Affected individuals must enroll in these services themselves, as the company cannot activate them on their behalf. The deadline to enroll in these services is May 4, 2025. Rebound Orthopedics advises individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud. They recommend monitoring account statements and credit reports for any suspicious activity.

Additionally, individuals are encouraged to report any suspected identity theft to local law enforcement, the Federal Trade Commission, or their state Attorney General.
