On March 28, 2025, JJF Management, which does business as Fitzgerald Auto Malls, discovered that unauthorized access to its network had occurred, resulting in a significant data breach. The breach was first detected on or about February 4, 2024, when the company identified suspicious activity on its systems.

After launching an internal investigation with the help of external cybersecurity professionals, Fitzgerald Auto Malls determined that certain files containing sensitive consumer information were accessed or acquired by an unauthorized party.

The breach affected at least 129 individuals in Maine, with the total number of affected individuals across the country not specified in the public disclosures currently available.

The compromised information includes a wide range of personally identifiable information (PII): name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s license, state-issued and/or military identification number, financial account information, and, in some cases, protected health information (PHI).

The company filed a formal disclosure with the Maine Attorney General’s office on April 26, 2025, and notified affected consumers via substitute notice on April 25, 2025.
