JPW Industries Data Breach: 811 GB Compromised

On February 3, 2025, JPW Industries, Inc. discovered that certain computer systems on its network had been locked by a computer virus. The breach was reportedly caused by a ransomware attack conducted by a cybercriminal group known as RansomHub. On March 8, 2025, RansomHub posted on the dark web, claiming responsibility for the attack and stating that they had gained access to approximately 811 GB of JPW Industries' data. The group threatened to publish the stolen data within 6-7 days unless their demands were met. This ransomware incident was disclosed publicly by JPW Industries in a notification to the New Hampshire Attorney General's office on April 1, 2025.

JPW Industries, Inc.'s response

Upon discovering the ransomware attack, JPW Industries took immediate action to secure its network, restore affected systems securely from backups, and investigate the extent of the breach. The company promptly notified affected individuals in writing on or about April 1, 2025, providing information about the breach and steps they can take to protect themselves.

JPW Industries is offering affected individuals free credit monitoring and fraud assistance services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company specializing in fraud assistance and remediation services. Individuals affected by this breach are encouraged to enroll in these services within 90 days of receiving their notification letter.

Additionally, JPW Industries recommends that affected individuals remain vigilant by regularly reviewing account statements and monitoring their credit reports for suspicious activity. Consumers can obtain free annual credit reports from the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—by visiting AnnualCreditReport.com or calling 1-877-322-8228.

Those affected may also consider placing a fraud alert or a credit freeze on their credit files. A fraud alert requires businesses to verify the consumer's identity before extending new credit, while a credit freeze restricts access to credit reports entirely without explicit consumer authorization. Both options are free and can be requested by contacting the three major credit reporting bureaus directly.
