On July 4, 2024, Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, LLC (“IBJI”) discovered unauthorized access to certain computer systems on its network. When the breach was detected, an investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party had accessed the network between May 30, 2024, and July 4, 2024. During this period, the intruder acquired certain undisclosed files.

The data breach affected a total of 381 individuals across Texas and Massachusetts. The sensitive information exposed includes social security numbers, home addresses, and medical records.

In response to the breach, The company engaged cybersecurity experts to assist in the investigation and notified law enforcement of the incident. To mitigate the risk of future breaches, IBJI is enhancing its technical security measures.

Additionally, IBJI is offering affected individuals a complimentary two-year membership of Experian IdentityWorksSM Credit 3B. This service includes identity protection and credit monitoring to help detect potential misuse of personal information.

  3. Place a Fraud Alert or Security Freeze: Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit report to warn creditors of potential identity theft. Alternatively, you can place a security freeze to restrict access to your credit report.
  4. Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice any signs of identity theft, report it immediately to the relevant financial institutions and law enforcement agencies.
