On March 31, 2025, Ciuni & Panichi, Inc., based in Beachwood, Ohio, disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to sensitive consumer information. According to disclosures made to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office, the Texas Attorney General's office, and the New Hampshire Attorney General's office, the breach exposed personally identifiable information (PII), specifically Social Security numbers, of affected individuals.

The breach impacted a total of 1,474 individuals in Texas, 178 individuals in Massachusetts, and 63 individuals in New Hampshire. Ciuni & Panichi notified affected consumers directly via U.S. Mail.

Ciuni & Panichi's Response

In response to the data breach, Ciuni & Panichi has taken several steps to assist affected individuals. The firm is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX. Affected consumers can enroll by visiting the IDX enrollment page and using the enrollment code provided in the notification letter. The deadline to enroll in these services is June 27, 2025.

Consumers who have questions or need assistance enrolling in identity protection services can contact IDX directly at 1-877-332-0172. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 9 pm Eastern Time, excluding holidays.

Additionally, Ciuni & Panichi recommends that affected individuals closely monitor their financial accounts and credit reports for any suspicious or unauthorized activity. Consumers are entitled to one free annual credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus—TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax—by visiting AnnualCreditReport.com or calling 1-877-322-8228.

To further protect personal information, affected individuals can place a fraud alert or credit freeze on their credit files by contacting the three major credit reporting bureaus:

For additional guidance, consumers can reach out to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at IdentityTheft.gov or by calling 1-877-ID-THEFT (1-877-438-4338). Consumers also have the right to file a police report if they experience identity theft or fraud.
