On December 30, 2024, Bay Cove Human Services, Inc. discovered unusual activity within its network, marking the onset of a significant data breach. The organization immediately took action to terminate the unauthorized access and secure its systems. Despite these efforts, the investigation revealed that data may have been accessed or downloaded without authorization, although the specific data involved could not be identified. Consequently, Bay Cove decided to notify all potentially affected clients and employees.

The breach impacted a total of 24,791 individuals across the United States, with 17,691 of those affected residing in Massachusetts and 21 in Maine.

Bay Cove Human Services, Inc.'s Response

In response to the breach, Bay Cove Human Services, Inc. took immediate steps to secure its systems and launched a comprehensive investigation with the help of cybersecurity experts. The organization has since implemented additional safeguards to enhance the security of its systems and reduce the risk of future incidents.

To support those affected, Bay Cove has established a toll-free call center through IDX, a ZeroFox Company, to answer questions and address concerns related to the incident. Additionally, Bay Cove is offering free identity protection services to those impacted. These services include 12 months of credit and CyberScan monitoring, a $1,000,000 insurance reimbursement policy, and fully managed identity theft recovery services. Affected individuals are encouraged to enroll in these services by visiting IDX's enrollment page or by calling 1-877-554-5774.
