If you were notified that your personal information was accessed, stolen, or compromised due to unauthorized third-party access to Travelers' independent agent portal, you might be eligible to claim compensation from a class action settlement.
The Travelers Indemnity Company has agreed to pay $6,000,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged negligence and violations of privacy laws, including the Federal Trade Commission Act and the New York Shield Act.
Who Are the Class Members?
The settlement class includes:
- Individuals in the United States who received notice that their personal information was accessed, stolen, or compromised due to the data incident.
- Those whose driver's license numbers were compromised as a result of the unauthorized access to Travelers' independent agent portal identified on or around November 12, 2021.
If you fit these criteria, you are part of the class and eligible to claim compensation. It's important to verify that you received the official notification from Travelers regarding the data incident to ensure your eligibility.
How Much Can Class Members Get?
The settlement provides a total of $6,000,000 to be distributed among eligible class members. Each member who does not opt out and submits a timely claim will receive an equal share of the net settlement fund.
The net settlement fund is calculated by deducting taxes, administration costs, attorneys' fees, and any service awards from the total settlement amount.
For example, if the net settlement fund is $5,000,000 and there are 88,858 eligible claimants, each would receive approximately $56.27. This calculation is based on dividing the net settlement fund by the number of claimants.
How to Claim Compensation
To receive compensation, class members must submit a form by December 20, 2024. You can access the online payment election form to file electronically.

Why Is There a Settlement?
The lawsuit was filed because of a 2021 data breach, which lead to unauthorized access to personal information. The settlement was reached to avoid the risks and costs of prolonged litigation. Travelers denies the allegations but agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims.
