If you accessed lemonade.com, either directly or through www.bestow.com or www.northamericancompany.com, and entered answers to health-related questions on an application for life insurance in the United States between March 15, 2021, and September 28, 2023, you may be eligible to claim up to $14.86 from a class action settlement.

Lemonade, Inc. has agreed to pay $4,995,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for allegedly disclosing applicants' personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) to third parties without consent, in violation of state and federal laws.

The company denies any wrongdoing but has chosen to settle to avoid further litigation costs and uncertainties.

How much can class members get?

Class members may receive a cash payment of up to $14.86.

This amount is contingent upon the total claims submitted and the settlement fund cap of $4,995,000.

If the number of claims exceeds the settlement fund, payments may be reduced on a pro-rata basis. For example, if the total valid claims amount to $5,000,000, each claimant would receive a proportionally reduced amount to fit within the $4,995,000 cap.

Is proof required to submit a claim?

Claimants can claim an award by attesting they are a class member. They must declare under penalty of perjury that they accessed the relevant websites and entered health-related information during the specified period.

Payout methods

Payments will be made via check sent to the address provided on the claim form.

$4,995,000 Settlement fund

The settlement fund of $4,995,000 will cover all valid claims submitted by the settlement class, notice and administration expenses, attorneys' fees, and incentive awards.

• Class Counsel may seek up to one-third of the settlement fund for fees, but the court may award less.
• Class Representatives may receive up to $5,000 each as incentive awards, subject to court approval.
