Illinois Attorney General $11.25M DoorDash Settlement

If you worked as a Dasher for DoorDash in Illinois between July 2017 and September 2019, you may be eligible to claim a payment from a settlement with the Illinois Attorney General.

DoorDash has agreed to pay $11,250,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

The lawsuit claims that DoorDash misled consumers by suggesting that tips would increase Dasher earnings above the guaranteed pay, while allegedly using those tips to meet the guaranteed amount.

Who is eligible for a payout?

"Eligible Dashers," are those who:

• Completed deliveries in Illinois using DoorDash between July 2017 and September 2019.
• Were paid under the Pay Guarantee Model.
• Received tips that were allegedly used by DoorDash to meet the Guaranteed Amount.

This settlement specifically targets Dashers who had their consumer tips allegedly used to fulfill the minimum pay guaranteed by DoorDash.

How much are the payouts?

Each eligible Dasher will receive at least $2.00 plus a proportional share of the settlement fund.

The calculation is based on the amount of consumer tips allegedly used by DoorDash to satisfy the Guaranteed Amounts:

• Minimum Payment: $2.00
• Proportional Share: Calculated based on the Dasher's percentage of the total claimed tips.

For example, if the total settlement fund is $11,250,000 and administration costs are $145,000, the remaining amount is distributed among claimants based on their individual share of the claimed tips.

How to submit a claim

Eligible Dashers must fill out a claim form online by February 10, 2025. If you received notice via email, ensure you submit your claim by this date to receive your payment.

If you received notice by mail, the deadline is February 18, 2025.

When is the DoorDash Settlement payout date?
