If you were notified by AUS, Inc. that your confidential personally identifiable information (PII) may have been compromised in a data incident on or about November 28, 2022, you may be eligible to claim up to $4,500 from a class action settlement.
AUS, Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged negligence and other claims related to a data breach that exposed personal information.
Who can file a claim?
- Those whose full name and other PII were potentially accessed during the data incident.
- Those who received a notification letter from AUS, Inc. regarding the breach.
How much can class members get?
- Lost Time: Up to $120 for four hours at $30 per hour spent dealing with the data incident.
- Ordinary Losses: Up to $400 for expenses such as bank fees, phone charges, and credit monitoring services purchased.
- Extraordinary Losses: Up to $4,500 for documented losses due to identity theft or fraud.
Additionally, class members can opt for an alternative cash payment of $115 instead of other benefits.
The compensation for lost time and ordinary losses is capped at a total of $400. For example, if you claim $120 for lost time, you can claim up to $280 for ordinary losses.
What proof is needed with claims?
Claimants need to provide reasonable documentation to support claims for ordinary and extraordinary losses. This includes receipts or statements showing the expenses were more likely than not caused by the data incident.
