Why was there a class action settlement?
The lawsuit was initiated due to a cybersecurity incident in November 2022, where personal information was potentially accessed.
In state attorney generals disclosures, a total of 4,539 Americans were affected, which is relatively small compared to most data breach class action lawsuits. Social security numbers were exposed in the breach, which is what ultimately led to the class action lawsuit.
The settlement avoids the costs and risks of a trial.
