Ventura County Credit Union has agreed to pay $1,800,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for two alleged data breaches that potentially exposed sensitive personal information of their members in 2022 and 2024.

Who is eligible for a data breach payout?

  • You are a resident of the United States who received notice from VCCU that your information may have been impacted by the data incidents.
  • You are a California Subclass Member and qualify for an additional cash payment if you are a California resident that VCCU identified as being impacted by the data breaches.

How much is the class action settlement payment?

Class members can claim one or more of the following:

  • Credit Monitoring Services: Two years of credit monitoring and identity protection services, with $1,000,000 in insurance coverage.
  • Reimbursement for Out-of-Pocket Losses: Up to $5,000 for documented monetary expenses and losses directly related to the data incidents.
  • Lost Time Compensation: $20 per hour for up to eight hours for a maximum of $160 for both data incidents. Class members can claim up to four hours for the 2022 breach and an additional four hours for the 2024 breach.
  • California Statutory Payment: California Subclass Members can submit for a cash payment of $75.
  • Pro Rata Cash Payment: Remaining funds after all other claim payments will be distributed on a pro rata basis to approved claimants.

How to claim a Ventura County Credit Union payout

To claim an award, you must complete and submit a claim form by the deadline of June 3, 2025. You can file a claim online or print the PDF claim form to complete and mail to the settlement administrator.

When is the data breach settlement payout date?

The final approval hearing will take place on June 16, 2025. Once approved by the court, the settlement will proceed and payments will be issued to class members with approved claims approximately 75 days after the approval date.
