Drizly, LLC has agreed to pay $4 million to settle claims brought by the New York Attorney General alleging that the company misled customers about how tips were distributed. Why was Drizly sued, and why is there a settlement?

Drizly faced legal action from the New York Attorney General due to allegations that the company misled customers about how tips were distributed to delivery workers. The investigation found that Drizly encouraged customers to tip, implying tips would go directly to delivery workers.

Drizly instead sent tips to store owners without ensuring proper distribution. In some cases, store owners unlawfully pooled tips or withheld them entirely. Drizly agreed to settle the lawsuit by paying restitution to affected workers without admitting wrongdoing.
