Taylor Farms Illinois, Inc. has agreed to pay $2,419,950 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Who are the class members?

To be eligible to submit a claim, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Worked for Taylor Farms in the State of Illinois at any time between August 5, 2015, and April 15, 2024.
  • Had your fingerprint or handprint data collected, captured, received, obtained, maintained, stored, transmitted, or disclosed by Taylor Farms.
  • Did not sign a consent before producing any such information.

If you meet these criteria, you are considered a member of the Settlement Class unless you properly execute and file a timely request for exclusion.

How much can class members get?

The net payment is approximately $597.00 after deductions for settlement administration costs, attorneys’ fees, and a service award to the Class Representative.

Payment method

Payments will be issued via check to each class member following the final approval of the settlement.

$2,419,950 Settlement Fund

The settlement fund of $2,419,950 will cover:

  • Payments to Settlement Class Members
  • Settlement administration costs (not to exceed $18,042)
  • Attorneys’ fees (up to 37.5% of the Settlement Fund)
  • Service award to the Class Representative (up to $7,500)

When is the Taylor Farms BIPA Settlement payout date?

Payments will be made as soon as possible after the Court order becomes final, which should occur within approximately 14 days after final approval.
