If you purchased tickets in the state of New York from regmovies.com between July 31, 2023, and July 15, 2024, you may be eligible to claim a share of a class action settlement.
Regal Cinemas, Inc. has agreed to pay $2,500,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for allegedly failing to properly disclose booking fees for electronic tickets to its movie theaters in New York State.
Who can file a claim?
To be eligible for a claim, you must meet the following criteria:
- Purchased electronic tickets to any film screening at Regal Cinemas located in New York State
- Made the purchase from Regal's website using the guest checkout process
- The purchase occurred between July 31, 2023, and July 15, 2024
- Paid a booking fee in connection with the purchase
Not that members of the Regal Crown Club program are not eligible.
How much is the payout per person?
Class members are entitled to a pro rata share of the $2,500,000 settlement fund after fund expenses. The amount each member receives will depend on the total booking fees they paid.
For example, if a class member paid $10 in booking fees, and the total booking fees paid by all class members amount to $500,000, the member would receive a proportional share of the settlement fund. The calculation would be: (Individual's Booking Fees / Total Booking Fees) \* Net Settlement Fund.

Why was there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit was initiated because Regal Cinemas allegedly failed to disclose booking fees for electronic tickets in violation of New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law § 25.07(4). Regal Cinemas denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to avoid ongoing litigation costs and uncertainties.
