If you received electronic communications from OneMain Financial Group, LLC regarding your consumer account between 9:00pm and 8:00am, you may qualify to claim up to $500 from a class action settlement.

OneMain Financial Group, LLC has agreed to pay up to $500,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA). The class action claims that OneMain sent electronic notifications such as text messages or emails related to consumer accounts during prohibited hours (9:00pm to 8:00am local Florida time).

Who qualifies for a settlement payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

  • You must have a Florida residential address.
  • You received at least one electronic communication related to a customer account from OneMain Financial Group, LLC such as:
    • Emails
    • Text messages (SMS)
    • Push notifications
  • The communication was sent between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am local Florida time and occurred between May 31, 2022, and April 23, 2025.

How much is the debt collection class action payment?

Class members with valid claims will receive a pro rata cash payment of up to $500. The payment amount will be determined by the number of claims filed.

How to claim a class action settlement payout

To receive a class action rebate, you must submit a completed claim form. You can file a claim online or download and print a PDF claim form to mail to the settlement administrator. Completed forms must be postmarked or submitted online by April 23, 2025.

Is proof or additional information required to submit a claim?

Class Member ID provided on notice is required to submit an online claim. No other supporting documentation is required.

Settlement payment options

Claimants can select from the following:

  • Venmo
  • Zelle

$500,000 settlement fund

The settlement fund of $500,000 will cover payments to approved claimants.

OneMain will pay the following separately in addition to the settlement fund:

  • Attorneys' fees and expenses: Up to $165,000
  • Service award to class representative: $3,500
  • Settlement administration costs: Not to exceed $75,000

  • Final Approval Hearing: May 13, 2025 at 9:30am ET via Zoom

When is the OneMain Financial debt collection settlement payout date?

The final approval hearing will take place on May 13, 2025. Payments will be issued to class members with valid claims approximately 90 days after the settlement receives final approval from the court.

Why was this class action lawsuit filed?

The lawsuit was filed because the plaintiff alleged that OneMain Financial Group, LLC violated the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act by sending electronic communications to consumers during prohibited hours (9:00pm to 8:00am).
