Methodist McKinney Hospital, along with Methodist Hospitals of Dallas and MedHealth, has agreed to pay $985,000 to settle a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges negligence in protection of personal and private patient information due to a cyberattack on MMH's computer systems between May 20, 2022, and July 7, 2022.

- Class members received a notice from MMH in August 2022 informing them their personal and protected health information may have been compromised due to a cybersecurity incident.
How much will the class action settlement payout be?
Class members can claim one or more of the following:
- Credit monitoring & identity protection: Two years of services, including $1,000,000 in identity theft insurance.
- Reimbursement for Documented Out-of-Pocket Losses: Up to $5,000 for monetary losses resulting from the data incident.
- Lost Time Compensation: Up to four hours of lost time dealing with the breach, at $25 per hour, capped at $100.
- Pro Rata Cash Payment: Instead of claiming Out-of-Pocket Losses or Lost Time, class can submit for a cash payment estimated at $50. Payment amount will be determined by number of claims submitted.
How to claim a hospital data breach payment
To claim a settlement payout, complete and submit a claim form online or download the PDF claim form to print and mail to the settlement administrator. Mail it to the settlement administrator at PO Box 25413, Santa Ana, CA 92799. Claims must be submitted or mailed by May 27, 2025.
