Why was this InPen privacy class action lawsuit filed?
The lawsuit was initiated following Medtronic MiniMed's April 2023 disclosure that certain tracking and authentication technologies used on its digital platforms may have inadvertently shared InPen app users' personal and health-related information with third parties, such as Google. The plaintiff alleged that this constituted an invasion of privacy.
Although Medtronic MiniMed denies wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle to avoid the expenses of continued litigation and a possible trial.
