If you received a notification from the Metropolitan Opera Association, Inc. on or about May 3, 2023, regarding a data security incident, you may be eligible to claim up to $7,500 from a class action settlement.
The Metropolitan Opera Association has agreed to pay $450,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged negligence, breach of contract, and other claims related to a data breach that occurred between September 30, 2022, and December 6, 2022.
Who can claim benefits?
To be part of this settlement, you must have received a notice from the Met Opera on or about May 3, 2023.
Eligible Settlement Class Members include those whose personal information, such as name, date of birth, financial account information, and more, was potentially accessed during the breach. Here are the key points:
How much are the payouts?
- Ordinary Losses: Up to $750 for out-of-pocket expenses like bank fees, phone charges, and credit monitoring fees.
- Time Lost: Up to $100 for documented time spent dealing with the incident, at $25 per hour for up to four hours.
- Extraordinary Losses: Up to $7,500 for unreimbursed monetary losses due to identity theft or fraud caused by the incident.

$450,000 Settlement fund
The settlement fund of $450K will cover payments for claims by class members for ordinary, time lost, and extraordinary losses. Costs for credit monitoring services, service awards to the plaintiffs, and attorney fees are additional and do not count towards this cap.
- Class Counsel will request $250,000 in attorney fees.
- Each plaintiff may receive a $2,500 service award.

When is the Met Opera Data Security Incident payout date?
