Johnson Financial Group, Inc. has agreed to pay to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that the company failed to adequately protect sensitive personal information. The lawsuit claims that unauthorized third parties potentially accessed personal data of approximately 93,093 individuals through the MOVEit Transfer tool.

The compromised information may have included names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and credit or debit card numbers.

Who is eligible for a data breach payment?

  • You received notification from Johnson Financial Group informing you that your personal information may have been compromised as a result of the data security incident.
  • Your personal information was potentially accessed without authorization through the MOVEit Transfer tool.

How much is the class action settlement payout?

Class members can select one or more from the following:

  • Documented Ordinary Losses: Class members can submit for up to $250 in documented out-of-pocket expenses related to the data incident, such as bank fees, credit monitoring costs, and more.
  • Documented Extraordinary Losses: Class members can submit for up to $5,000 for documented monetary losses directly related to identity theft and fraud directly related to the data breach.
  • Lost Time: Reimbursement for up to three hours at $25 per hour for a maximum of $75. Includes time spent addressing issued related to the cybersecurity incident.
  • Alternative Cash Payment: Class members that do not claim Documented Ordinary Losses, Documented Extraordinary Losses, and Lost Time can submit for a pro rata cash payment of $45. The final payment amount may be decreased, determined by number of valid claims filed.
  • Credit Monitoring: All class members can claim two years of one-bureau credit monitoring services.

How to claim a data breach settlement payment

To receive a class action rebate, class members must submit a claim by the July 10, 2025 deadline. You can file a claim online or download and print the PDF claim form, and mail it to the settlement administrator.

Required proof and information

  • Class Member ID from court-ordered notice required to submit a claim.
  • Documented Ordinary Losses claims require proof such as bank statements showing fees paid, credit monitoring costs, and other expenses.
  • Documented Extraordinary Losses require supporting documentation showing unreimbursed charges and purchases due to fraud and identity theft traced to the data breach.

Data breach settlement fund breakdown

The settlement fund includes:
