Pathfinder Software, LLC doing business as CenterEdge Software has agreed to pay $1,175,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). This settlement is intended to compensate individuals who used a fingerprint to access CenterEdge systems in Illinois without the required disclosures and written consent.
Settlement Class Participants are estimated to receive approximately $230 to $330 each.

Can I Claim an Award?
The Settlement Class consists of two groups of people. The first group includes specific individuals identified from information obtained in the lawsuit as having scanned one or more fingers into a CenterEdge system in Illinois between April 29, 2014, and March 20, 2024. People in this group do not need to file a claim or take any action to receive their Settlement Payment.
The second group consists of all persons who, at any time from April 29, 2014, through March 20, 2024, scanned one or more fingers into a CenterEdge system at any of the following Sky Zone Trampoline Park locations: Sky Zone in Elmhurst, IL; Sky Zone in Aurora, IL; or Sky Zone in Joliet, IL. People in this group will need to file a claim to receive their Settlement Payment.
- Group 1: Identified individuals who scanned their fingerprints into a CenterEdge system in Illinois between April 29, 2014, and March 20, 2024.
- Group 2: Individuals who scanned one or more fingers at a Sky Zone Trampoline Park located in Elmhurst, Aurora, or Joliet, Illinois.
What Can I Claim?
The Settlement provides for a total payment of $1,175,000 that CenterEdge has agreed to pay to settle the claims in the lawsuit. Subject to Court approval, the Gross Settlement Fund will be reduced by litigation costs, Settlement Administrator’s costs, a Service Award to Class Representative Madisyn Stauffer, and an award of up to one-third of the total settlement for Settlement Class Counsel’s attorney fees. The remaining amount will be the Net Settlement Fund, which will be distributed equally to the Settlement Class Participants.
Settlement Class Counsel estimate that Settlement Class Participants will receive approximately $230 to $330 each.

Fingerprint Scanning at Sky Zone Trampoline Parks
The lawsuit involves fingerprint scanning systems provided by CenterEdge Software to businesses in Illinois, including Sky Zone Trampoline Parks in Elmhurst, Aurora, and Joliet. These systems allowed employees to clock in or out of work using their fingerprints.

Is Proof Required to Claim the Reward?
Yes, proof is required to claim the reward. Individuals in Group 2 must complete a Claim Form to receive their Settlement Payment. In the Claim Form, they must provide contact information and verify that they scanned their fingerprint at a Sky Zone Trampoline Park located in Elmhurst, Aurora, or Joliet, Illinois, on at least one occasion between April 29, 2014, and March 20, 2024.
How to Claim Your Award
To claim your award, you must complete and submit a Claim Form on or before June 24, 2024. You can complete and submit the Claim Form online by visiting the Settlement Website. You will need the Claimant ID listed on the Notice you received.
If you prefer, you can also print the Claim Form and return it to the Settlement Administrator. The Claim Form must be electronically submitted or postmarked on or before June 24, 2024.
$1,175,000 Settlement Fund
The total settlement amount is $1,175,000. This amount will cover all payments to the Settlement Class, expenses for administering the settlement, taxes and tax expenses, a Service Award to the Class Representative, and attorney fees and costs awarded to Class Counsel.
The exact number of Settlement Class Participants and the amount of money each participant will receive will not be known until a later date. Settlement Class Counsel estimate that participants will receive approximately $230 to $330 each.
Why is There a Class Action Settlement?
The lawsuit alleges that CenterEdge violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by collecting and possessing fingerprint data from people who used a fingerprint to access CenterEdge systems in Illinois without providing the required disclosures and obtaining written consent. CenterEdge denies any violation of the law, and the Court did not decide whether CenterEdge violated the law.
The next steps include the Final Approval Hearing scheduled for August 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The Court will decide whether to grant final approval of the settlement and the Fee Petition. If the Court approves the settlement, payments will be distributed to the Settlement Class Participants.
