If you created login credentials and accessed video content on websites operated by The Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc. (CBN) between March 28, 2022, and May 28, 2024, you may be eligible to submit a claim for a cash payment from a class action settlement.
The Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc. (CBN) has agreed to pay $4 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). The lawsuit claims that CBN improperly shared users' personally identifiable information (PII)—specifically Facebook IDs—with Meta (Facebook) through the Meta Pixel tracking technology.
Who is eligible for a Video Class Action Settlement payout?
Class members must have:
- Lived in the United States at any time between March 28, 2022, and May 28, 2024.
- Created and used login credentials (such as a username and password) to access one or more of CBN's websites.
- Requested or viewed prerecorded or on-demand video content available through CBN's online services during the specified time frame.
How much are the payouts
The exact amount each eligible claimant receives will depend on the total number of valid claims submitted.
After deducting attorneys' fees, administrative expenses, and a service award for the class representative, the remaining amount (the "Net Settlement Fund") will be equally divided among all approved claimants.
To illustrate, let's assume a hypothetical scenario where the Net Settlement Fund available for claimants is $2,500,000. If 10,000 valid claims are submitted, each claimant would receive approximately $250 ($2,500,000 ÷ 10,000 = $250 per claimant). If fewer claims are filed, the payment per claimant would increase proportionally, and vice versa.
How to claim a payout
To receive your payment, you must submit a completed claim form no later than April 29, 2025. You can file a claim online or download and mail a completed PDF claim form to the settlement administrator.

Why did CBN agree to this settlement?
The lawsuit alleges that CBN violated the Video Privacy Protection Act by sharing users' Facebook IDs with Meta without proper consent. CBN denies these allegations but chose to settle to avoid the uncertainty, expense, and distraction of ongoing litigation.
