Beyond Meat $7.5M Protein Settlement: Payouts & Dates

If you purchased Beyond Meat products for personal use between May 31, 2018, and August 14, 2024, you may be eligible to claim a cash award from a class action settlement.

Beyond Meat has agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit over allegations that it overstated the protein content and quality of its products.

Who are the class members?

Class members are those who:

• Purchased any Beyond Meat product for household use and not for resale or distribution
• The purchase must have occurred between May 31, 2018, and August 14, 2024

How much are the Beyond Meat payouts?

• Without Proof of Purchase: You can claim $2 per product, up to a maximum of five products per household, totaling $10
• With Proof of Purchase: You can claim $2 per product with no cap on the number of products

If the total claims exceed the available funds, payments will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. For example, if the Net Settlement Fund is $5,000,000 and valid claims total $6,000,000, each claimant would receive approximately 83.33% of their calculated award.

What proof is required for uncapped claims?

If you wish to claim more than the capped amount of $10, you must provide either receipts showing the purchase of Beyond Meat products during the class period or UPC labels from the product packaging.

$7,500,000 Settlement fund breakdown

The settlement fund of $7,500,000 will cover:

• Cash payments to eligible claimants
• Notice and administrative costs
• Attorneys’ fees and expenses
• Service awards to named plaintiffs

Attorneys’ fees are capped at $2,500,000, and each named plaintiff may receive $2,500.

When is the Beyond Meat Settlement payout date?

After the Fairness Hearing on January 23, 2025, the Court will decide whether to approve the settlement. If approved, payments will be distributed to eligible claimants after resolving any appeals.
