If you received a notice by mail or email about this settlement, Inflection Risk Solutions has identified you as someone that may be eligible to claim up to $1,500 from a class action settlement.

Inflection Risk Solutions, LLC has agreed to pay $1,765,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and similar California laws by including incorrect criminal record or sex offender registry information on consumer background reports.

Who is eligible to receive a payout?

Class members include the following groups:

  • Name & DOB Match Group: Individuals who had an Inflection consumer background report under the SafeDecision brand from July 20, 2020, to May 30, 2024 provided to a third-party and included a criminal record that did not match their first name, last name, and date of birth.
  • SOR Reports Group: Individuals who had an Inflection consumer background report provided to a third-party from July 20, 2020, to May 30, 2024 which listed them on a sex offender registry (SOR report).
  • Successful Disputes Group: Individuals who disputed a sex offender registry record in their Inflection consumer background report from July 20, 2020, to May 30, 2024, and whose dispute was successful.

How much can I receive from the Inflection FCRA settlement?

  • Successful Disputes Group:
    • $1,500
    • No claim form submission required
  • SOR Reports and Name & DOB Match Groups:
    • Up to $1,500 (depends on how many valid claims are submitted)
    • Must submit a valid claim form

Payout amounts for these two groups will be determined by the number of approved claims.

How to submit a claim for a settlement payment

To receive a payout, only members of the SOR Reports and Name & DOB Match Groups must submit a claim form by the May 21, 2025 deadline. You can file a claim online or complete the claim form you received in the mail with your notice and mail it back to the settlement administrator.

When submitting a claim, have your:

  • Notice ID and PIN required to submit a claim or update address information online
  • Copy of driver's license or government ID (recommended)

Payment method

Successful Disputes Group class members and all other approved claimants will receive a check mailed to their address on file

$1.77 Million settlement fund

  • Payments to Successful Disputes Group class members and approved claimants
  • Settlement administration costs and litigation expenses of no more than $125,000
  • Attorneys' fees of $441,250
  • Service awards to each of the three Plaintiffs totaling $15,000

When is the Walker v. Inflection Risk Solutions settlement payout date?

A final hearing is scheduled for July 28, 2025, to decide whether to approve the settlement. If approved by the court, payments will be issued to approved class members and claimants.
