If you received notice of a data breach from St. Joseph’s Candler Health System, Inc. (SJ/C), you may be eligible to submit a claim for up to $5,000 from a class action settlement.

SJ/C has agreed to pay $7,000,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged negligence, related to a data breach that occurred between December 18, 2020, and June 17, 2021.

Who is eligible to receive a payout?

Class members eligible to receive a payout include:

How much are St. Joseph Data Settlement payments?

Class members can submit for the following types of claims:

  • Out-of-Pocket Losses: Reimbursement up to $5,000 for actual, documented, unreimbursed financial losses caused by the data incident
  • Lost Time: Compensation for time spent dealing with the data breach at $25 per hour, up to three hours
  • Cash Payment: Class members that do not submit an Out-of Pocket Losses and/or a Lost Time claim, can submit for a $50 cash payment

Payment amounts for all claims may be adjusted on a pro rata basis, dependent on the number of approved claims filed.

How to claim a payout

To claim a St. Joseph’s Candler Health System data breach settlement payment you must file a claim form by May 1, 2025. You can file a claim online or download the PDF claim form and print and mail it to the settlement administrator.

When is the St. Joseph Data Settlement payout date?

The court will hold a final approval hearing on May 13, 2025. Once the settlement is approved by the court, Claims will be processed and payments will be issued.
