The Philadelphia Inquirer has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for allegedly intercepting and disclosing users' electronic communications without consent.
Who cal submit a claim?
To be part of the Settlement Class, you must meet the following criteria:
- You maintained a digital subscription account with The Philadelphia Inquirer at any time from October 1, 2019, to January 16, 2024
- You used Facebook during the same time
Approximately 180,000 individuals fall into this category. If you meet these criteria, you are automatically considered part of the Settlement Class.
How much is the payout?
The settlement fund of $1,125,000 will be distributed pro rata among class members who submit valid claims. The exact amount each class member will receive depends on the number of approved claims.
The value of each Settlement Payment is determined by dividing the Net Settlement Fund by the number of valid Claim Forms approved by the Settlement Administrator.
For example, if the Net Settlement Fund is $700,000 and 7,000 valid claims are approved, each claimant would receive $100.

$1,125,000 settlement fund
The settlement fund of $1,125,000 will cover:
