Northwestern Memorial Healthcare has agreed to pay $3,883,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by collecting biometric data without consent.
Who qualifies to receive a settlement payment?
You qualify if:
- You scanned your finger on an automated dispensing cabinet while employed at a Northwestern Medicine location in Illinois
- You did not execute a written consent prior to your biometric data collection between June 6, 2013, and October 22, 2024

Expected Award per Class Member: Approximately $250
Do I need to submit a claim to receive a payment?
A claim submission is not required:
- If you received a settlement notice, you will automatically receive a payment in the form of a check
- Class members can update address information or select a digital payment option through the settlement website using their Notice ID and PIN

When is the Northwestern Memorial Healthcare payout date?
