If you were the subject of a background report obtained by Maryland MarketSource, Inc. between April 12, 2013, and October 26, 2014, you may be eligible to claim $38.54 from a class action settlement.

Maryland MarketSource, Inc. has agreed to pay $1,198,375 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and California laws related to background checks.

Can I Claim an Award?

To be eligible for an award from this settlement, you must be a member of the Settlement Class. The Settlement Class includes all individuals who were the subject of a background report (including a consumer report and investigative consumer report) obtained by Maryland MarketSource, Inc. from April 12, 2013, through October 26, 2014. If you received a notice about this settlement, it means that Defendants' records indicate you are a Settlement Class Member.

As a Settlement Class Member, you have several options available to you:

• Participate in the Settlement and receive a settlement check. To participate, you do not need to do anything. You will receive a settlement check that will be mailed to you after the Court grants final approval of the Settlement. The estimated amount of your settlement check is $38.54.
• Object to the Settlement.
• Request to be excluded from the Settlement.

What Awards Can Class Members Claim?

The settlement fund is $1,198,375, which will be used to pay Settlement Class Members, attorneys' fees and costs, and the Class Representative Service Award. After these deductions, the remaining amount, known as the Net Settlement Amount (NSA), will be distributed to Participating Settlement Class Members on a pro-rata basis.

The estimated amount each Participating Settlement Class Member will receive is $38.54. This amount is calculated by dividing the NSA by the number of Participating Settlement Class Members. For example, if the NSA is $1,000,000 and there are 25,000 Participating Settlement Class Members, each member would receive $40.

Is Proof Required to Claim the Reward?

Not applicable. The Settlement Administrator already has the information needed to determine eligibility. Settlement Class Members do not need to provide additional proof to claim their award.

How to Claim Your Award

To claim your award, you do not need to take any action. A settlement check will be mailed to you after the Court grants final approval of the Settlement. If you move after receiving this notice, update your address by mailing the change to:
