If you purchased advertising through LinkedIn Marketing Solutions (LMS) between January 1, 2015, and May 31, 2023, you may be eligible to claim compensation from a class action settlement.
LinkedIn Corporation has agreed to pay $6,625,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged misrepresentation of advertising metrics and overcharging advertisers.
Who are the class members?
- You must be a U.S. advertiser.
- You must have purchased advertisements through LinkedIn Marketing Solutions between January 1, 2015, and May 31, 2023.
If you meet these criteria, you are automatically included in the class. There is no need to file a claim to be considered a class member.
How much can class members get?
The settlement fund amounts to $6,625,000. After deducting attorneys’ fees, costs, and other expenses, approximately $4,763,875.06 will be distributed among class members. The amount each class member receives depends on their total advertising spend during the class period.
The distribution is based on a pro rata calculation, meaning the funds are divided proportionally based on each member's advertising spend. For example, if you spent $10,000 on advertising and the total eligible spend is $1,000,000, you would receive 1% of the net settlement fund.
Class members do not need to take any action to receive their settlement payment. Payments will be sent automatically if the court approves the settlement. If LinkedIn has your address on file, you will receive a check if your payment exceeds $5. For amounts less than $5, and if you have advertised on LinkedIn after February 27, 2023, you may receive an advertising credit. Otherwise, payments will be made via digital payment cards.
Payment methods
- Check (for payments $5 or more)
- Advertising credit (for payments less than $5 with recent advertising activity)

The court will hold a Fairness Hearing on January 14, 2025, to decide whether to approve the settlement. If approved, payments will be distributed after resolving any appeals.
Why is there a class action settlement?
The lawsuit alleged that LinkedIn misrepresented how it calculated fees for advertisers and failed to ensure the accuracy of its metrics, leading to overcharges. LinkedIn denies these claims but agreed to settle to avoid prolonged litigation.
