If you were affected by the ransomware attack on Hanesbrands Inc. discovered in May 2022, you may be eligible to claim up to $599 from a class action settlement.

Hanesbrands Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged negligence in safeguarding personal information during a ransomware attack.

Who can file a claim?

The settlement class includes individuals whose personal information was compromised in the ransomware attack against Hanesbrands Inc. discovered on May 24, 2022.

To determine if you are part of the class:

  • You must have received a notice related to this class action.
  • If you did not receive a notice but believe you should be included, you must provide reasonable documentation demonstrating your inclusion.

Class members are those whose personal information, such as contact details, financial account information, or Social Security numbers, were potentially accessed during the incident.

Who is excluded from the class?

The following are excluded from the class: the judge presiding over the case and their immediate family, Hanesbrands Inc.'s executives, and any individuals who choose to opt out of the settlement.

How much can class members get?

Class members can claim reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses related to the data incident, with a total cap of $100,000 for all claims.

Additionally, members can choose one of the following:

  • Hanes Site Credit: $50 Hanes website credit with free shipping, valued at $6.99.
  • Alternative Cash Payment: An alternative cash payment of $35.

If the total claims for reimbursement exceed $100,000, each claim will be reduced on a pro rata basis. For example, if claims total $200,000, each claim would be halved to fit within the cap.

What proof is required to submit a claim?
