If you had a telephone conversation with a sales representative from Consumer Safety Technology LLC, also known as Intoxalock, between May 18, 2021, and February 8, 2022, you may be eligible to claim up to $5,000 from a class action settlement.
Consumer Safety Technology LLC has agreed to pay $1,747,500 to settle a class action lawsuit for allegedly recording telephone calls without the consent of the callers.
Who can file a claim?
To determine if you are eligible to file a claim, consider the following criteria:
- You had a telephone conversation with Intoxalock's sales representatives during the period from May 18, 2021, through February 8, 2022.
- Your telephone number bears a California prefix and/or you have a California address.
- You are listed in Intoxalock's records as having engaged in one or more telephone conversations during the specified period.
If you received notice of this settlement by mail or email, it indicates that you are a Settlement Class Member. If you are unsure whether you qualify, you can contact the Claims Administrator for verification.
How much are the payouts?
Class members can claim a portion of the $1,747,500 Settlement Fund. The amount each class member receives will be calculated on a pro rata basis, meaning the total settlement amount will be divided among all valid claims, with a cap of $5,000 per person.
How to claim an award
To claim an award, you must complete a claim form and submit it by March 12, 2025. You can file a claim online or download a PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

Claimants do not need to provide documentation with their claim. The Claims Administrator already has the necessary information to verify class membership.
Payout options
Class members can choose to receive their payment via:

- Digital payment (requires an email address)
$1.75 Million settlement fund
The settlement fund of $1,750,000 will cover various expenses and payments:
- Settlement administration costs: Estimated not to exceed $702,000
- Attorneys' fees: Up to $582,500
- Attorneys' expenses: Estimated not to exceed $35,000
- Service awards to class representatives: $5,000
- Payments to class members: The remaining amount after deductions
