Settlement Update March 2025: New settlements worth $22.5 million have been reached, bringing the chicken price-fixing settlement total to $203.35 million. The new settling defendants are: Claxton Poultry, Foster Farms, Harrison Poultry, House of Raeford, Koch Foods, O.K. Foods, Perdue, Sanderson Farms, Wayne Farms, and Simmons.

If you purchased any chicken product in the United States from January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2020, you may be eligible to claim a portion of a $181 million class action settlement.

Fieldale Farms Corporation, George’s Inc., Mar-Jac Poultry, Inc., Peco Foods, Inc., Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, and Tyson Foods, Inc. have agreed to pay $181,000,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged price-fixing and supply restriction of chicken products.

Who is eligible for a chicken settlement payout?

Class Members must have purchased fresh or frozen raw chicken, including whole birds (with or without giblets), whole cut-up birds purchased within a package, or “white meat” parts such as breasts and wings in one of the following states: California, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, or Wisconsin.

  • The new settlements ($22.5M) have a purchase period of January 1, 2012, to July 31, 2019.
  • The previous settlements ($181M) have a purchase period of January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2020.

How much will the price-fixing class action payment be?

Class members with valid claims will receive a pro rata cash payment. Payment amount will be determined by the following:

  • Amount of chicken purchased during class periods.
  • Dollar amount of all chicken purchases.
  • Number of claims filed.

Is proof required to submit a claim?

Supporting documentation is not required at this time, however the settlement administrator may request proof during the claim review process.

How to claim a chicken class action settlement payout

If you already filed a claim in the previous settlements, you do not need to submit another claim. Approved claimants will receive a payment from the new settlements.

Class members that have not previously submitted must submit a claim form to receive a settlement payment. You can file a claim online or download and print a PDF claim form to mail to the settlement administrator. The deadline for new claims is July 31, 2025.

The $203,350,000 settlement fund will include:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys’ fees: Up to $67,723,000
  • Attorneys' litigation costs: Up to $9,750,000
  • Service awards to class representatives: Up to $2,000 each
  • Settlement administration costs: Remaining settlement funds
