
Current and former patients who logged in to their Aspirus Health patient portal account at any time between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2024, may qualify to submit a claim for $22 from a class action settlement.
Aspirus Inc. agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it improperly shared certain patient data with Meta and other third parties in violation of Wisconsin law.
Who is eligible for a settlement payout?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- They are a patient of Aspirus Health.
- They reside in the United States.
- They have or had a MyAspirius portal account.
- They logged in to their portal account at least once between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2024.
How much is the privacy class action payment?
Class members have the following benefit options:
- Cash payment: Class members can submit a claim to receive a cash payment of $22.
- Privacy Shield Pro: All class members received an email with an enrollment code to receive one year of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, which includes a dark web watchlist, password scan and defense, VPN, private search, data broker opt-out and digital vault.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a cash payment, class members must submit a claim form by the Dec. 3, 2025, deadline. Class members have the following options:
- Submit a claim online
- Print the PDF claim form to mail to the settlement administrator
- Email a scanned or photographed copy of their claim form to the settlement administrator

Payout options
Class members can choose from the following payment methods:
- PayPal
- Venmo
- Zelle
- Paper check mailed to the address provided
Privacy class action settlement fund
The settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined
- Attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses: Up to $1,500,000
- Service awards to class representatives: $2,500 each for three representatives ($7,500 total)
- Privacy Shield Pro: Paid for by Aspirus
- Payments to eligible class members: $22 per valid claim

When is the Aspirus Health privacy settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will issue payments to approved claimants approximately 75 days after the court grants approval of the settlement. It will email Privacy Shield Pro enrollment instructions to approved claimants within 60 days of the final approval date.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class lawsuit alleged Aspirus Health shared private patient information with Meta and other third parties through its patient portal in violation of certain Wisconsin laws.
Aspirus denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the expense, risks and disruptions of ongoing litigation.
