VectraRx Data Breach Exposes PHI & PII of 109,383 Americans

VectraRx Mail Pharmacy Services LLC, a mail order pharmacy specializing in medications for workers' compensation claims, recently experienced a significant data breach.

On December 13, 2024, VectraRx detected unusual activity on one of its servers, prompting an immediate investigation. A specialized third-party cybersecurity firm was engaged to thoroughly examine the situation. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor or actors had potentially viewed and copied sensitive data stored by VectraRx.

After a comprehensive review, completed on January 7, 2025, it was determined that the breach affected a total of 109,383 individuals across the United States. In Texas alone, 6,081 people were impacted.

Information exposed:

• Name of individual
• Social Security Number
• Date of Birth
• Other information, such as Rx Number, Rx Information, and Date of Service

VectraRx has reported this breach to various authorities, including the Texas Attorney General's office on February 7, 2025, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on February 6, 2025.

In response to the data breach, VectraRx Mail Pharmacy Services LLC has taken several steps to address the situation and protect affected individuals. Upon discovering the breach, the company quickly initiated an investigation and has since been working to identify those impacted.

VectraRx is offering 12 to 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services through Identity Defense to help protect affected individuals' identities.

Additionally, VectraRx has provided guidance on how to protect against identity theft and fraud. This includes instructions on placing fraud alerts and security freezes on credit files, contact details for national consumer reporting agencies, and information on obtaining free credit reports. Affected individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant by reviewing account statements and monitoring credit reports for any suspicious activity.
