TradeZero America also offers a mobile app for traders on the go and features capabilities for stock shorting and 24/7 customer support. According to LinkedIn, the company employs 28 people.

What Happened?

On July 29, 2024, TradeZero's third-party vendor, Tawk.To, discovered suspicious activity affecting its environment. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor may have accessed personal information contained in certain files associated with TradeZero's customers on the Tawk.To platform.

Types of consumer information may have been exposed:

  • Name of individual
  • Social Security Number
  • Driver’s License number
  • Government-issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card)
  • Financial Information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)

The breach was disclosed to the California Attorney General's office, and 1,459 individuals in Texas were reported to be affected. TradeZero notified consumers via U.S. Mail.

  1. Enroll in Credit Monitoring: TradeZero is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services through Cyberscout. To enroll, visit https://bfs.cyberscout.com/activate and use the unique code provided in your notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days from the date of the letter.
  2. Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly review your account statements and monitor your free credit reports for any suspicious activity. You are entitled to one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
  3. Consider a Fraud Alert or Credit Freeze: You can place a fraud alert or a credit freeze on your credit file to prevent unauthorized access. Contact any of the three major credit reporting bureaus to initiate these protections.
  4. Report Identity Theft: If you suspect your information has been misused, report it to the Federal Trade Commission.
