What was the January Ransomware Attack?
On January 27, 2025, SimonMed Imaging was notified by one of its vendors about a security incident. The following day, January 28, 2025, SimonMed identified suspicious activity on its own network. An investigation revealed unauthorized access to SimonMed's systems occurred between January 21 and February 5, 2025.
The cyberattack was carried out by a ransomware group known as MEDUSA. This group claims to have stolen approximately 212.616 GB of data from SimonMed Imaging's systems and has threatened to publish the stolen information on the dark web within 14-15 days.

Your Rights and Next Steps
If your personal information was exposed in the SimonMed Imaging data breach, you have important rights and options available to protect yourself and your identity:
- First, you should closely monitor your financial accounts, credit reports, and medical statements for any suspicious or unauthorized activity. You are entitled to one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion).
- Second, consider placing a fraud alert on your credit file. A fraud alert informs creditors to verify your identity before opening new accounts or making changes to existing accounts. You only need to contact one of the three major credit bureaus to place a fraud alert, as they are required to notify the other two bureaus.
- Third, you may want to place a security freeze (also known as a credit freeze) on your credit reports. A security freeze prevents new creditors from accessing your credit report without your explicit consent, significantly reducing the risk of identity theft. You can request a security freeze by contacting each of the three credit bureaus individually.
Finally, you have the right to take legal action against SimonMed Imaging for failing to adequately protect your sensitive personal and medical information. Experienced data breach lawyers are ready to help you understand your legal options and pursue compensation for any harm you have suffered.
