About Rhea Medical Center

Rhea Medical Center is a county-owned, non-profit hospital located in Dayton, Tennessee. It serves the residents of Rhea County and is guided by a seven-member board of directors. The hospital is known for providing a wide range of healthcare services, including surgery, diagnostic imaging, emergency care, and therapy.

The facility opened its current location in August 2007 and is accredited by DNV, following strict ISO Quality Management principles. Rhea Medical Center has been recognized as a Top 100 Hospital by Solucient’s National Benchmarks for Success study.

What Happened?

In July 2024, Rhea Medical Center learned that its business associate, Nationwide Recovery Service (NRS), experienced a significant data breach. NRS provides debt collection services for the hospital. On July 11, 2024, suspicious activity was discovered on NRS’s systems, and an investigation revealed that unauthorized access occurred between July 5 and July 11, 2024.

During this breach, certain files and folders were copied from NRS’s network. After a thorough review, it was determined that information related to individuals associated with Rhea Medical Center was potentially impacted.

The types of consumer information exposed include:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial information
  • Medical information

While there is currently no evidence that your personal information has been misused, the risk of exposure is real and should be taken seriously.
