What was the February 2025 Ransomware Attack?
On February 10, 2025, Pacific Residential Mortgage experienced a ransomware attack carried out by a cybercriminal group known as LYNX. The hackers infiltrated the company's systems, locking down sensitive data and potentially exposing the personal information of numerous customers. PacRes Mortgage detected the breach the same day and immediately began an investigation, hiring cybersecurity experts and notifying law enforcement.

Unfortunately, the breach was not fully contained until February 20, 2025. LYNX subsequently posted about the incident on the dark web on February 24, 2025, claiming responsibility and providing sample screenshots of the compromised data.
