About Memorial Hospital And Manor

Memorial Hospital And Manor is a healthcare facility located in Bainbridge, Georgia, which has been in service for over 50 years. This 80-bed community hospital, along with a 107-bed long-term care facility and Willow Ridge, a 22-bed personal care facility, is operated by the Hospital Authority of the City of Bainbridge and Decatur County.

What Happened?

On November 2, 2024, Memorial Hospital And Manor discovered unusual activity that disrupted access to certain computer systems. An investigation revealed that an unknown actor accessed and acquired sensitive personal and health information without authorization.

Two days later on November 4, the ransomeware group, EMBARGO, posted on the dark web claiming to have collected 1.15 terabytes of data and intended to publish the data publicly within 2-3 days if their ransom demands were not met.

An investigation by Claim Depot into whether the ransom was paid or the data was published publicly was inconclusive.

The review of the impacted data by Memorial Hospital and Manor concluded on January 31, 2025.

The breach affected approximately 120,085 individuals in the United States, including 3 residents of Maine.

Known types of consumer information exposed:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Dates of birth
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical treatment and/or history information
