MedEx provides basic life support (BLS), advanced life support (ALS), critical care, and medical standby services for events for many healthcare facilities across the region, including prominent institutions such as Lurie Children's Hospital and the University of Chicago Medicine.

What Happened?

On March 18, 2024, MedEx discovered a serious data breach involving unauthorized access to their network. After experiencing a network disruption, MedEx quickly disconnected all systems and engaged cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident. The investigation revealed that sensitive personal information belonging to 118,418 individuals across the United States may have been exposed.

MedEx notified affected consumers in writing beginning on April 14, 2025.

According to disclosures to the attorneys' generals offices of Massachusetts and Maine, there are 49 717 and 49 residents affected in each state, respectively.
