About Maxxis International

Maxxis International is a global tire manufacturer that produces a wide range of tire products for cars, light trucks, bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, trailers, karts, and lawn and garden equipment. The company has a significant presence in the automotive industry, distributing its products in approximately 160 countries.

Founded in 1967, Maxxis operates in Asia, Europe, and North America, and employs more than 20,000 people worldwide. According to LinkedIn, the company has 458 employees listed on the platform.

What Happened?

In October 2024, Maxxis International experienced a cybersecurity incident that may have compromised the personal information of consumers. The breach was detected on October 19, 2024, after unusual activity was noticed within the company’s computer systems.

An investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party gained access to Maxxis’s network between October 17 and October 19, 2024, after an employee inadvertently clicked on a malicious link. This allowed the attacker to access certain systems and files.

The ransomware group known as BLACK SUIT claimed responsibility for the attack, posting about it on the Tor network. Following the discovery, Maxxis took steps to secure its environment and reported the incident to law enforcement. The breach was disclosed to the Vermont Attorney General’s office on April 21, 2025.
