What Happened?
On July 30, 2024, Life University experienced a significant network disruption caused by a ransomware attack. The attack was carried out by a group known as the Metaencryptor Team, who claimed responsibility for the breach. The hackers stated they had gained access to approximately 18.2 GB of the university's data.
Upon discovering the incident, Life University immediately disconnected its network and engaged cybersecurity specialists to investigate. The investigation determined that sensitive personal information of individuals may have been accessed by unauthorized parties.

Life University disclosed this data breach to the Massachusetts and Vermont Attorneys General on April 2, 2025. According to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, at least 10 individuals in Massachusetts were affected.
